I started the blog because I wanted to write more about Taiwan and cover a wider range of topics than was possible on my website, David's Guide to Taiwan. The blog was originally hosted at Blogger, but moved to its own domain and the WordPress platform in August 2006. I have written a little about the history of my Taiwan related websites here. About David I am Australian and I first came to Taiwan in 1999 and spent a year teaching English and studying Chinese. I had studied Chinese in my final year at university and wanted to go to Taiwan or China to learn to speak Mandarin and also experience living and working in a foreign country. I returned to Taiwan for six months in 2002, before leaving to work for a Taiwanese company in Fujian Province, China. In April 2006 I once again returned to Taiwan. I am currently living in Taipei County and working as an English teacher. I have travelled extensively throughout Asia and also spent time living and working in China, Thailand and India.
