學習的重點是反覆聆聽本書的CD，跟著CD反覆練習，讓舌頭更靈活，讓發音的方式更"標準"。一開始會不太習慣，舌頭會覺得很僵硬，因為過去的發音方式不見得是正確的，隨著不斷的練習，英語就會說得愈來愈流暢了。

本書的書名取得很聳動。實際上的意譯應該是「不要研究英語，而是以實際練習的方式來學習英語」。 在「哈利波特」、「莎翁情史」、「羅密歐與茱麗葉」的電影中，在「歌劇魅影」、「貓」的音樂裡，聽著或標準或帶有異國腔調的英語發音，而且也聽懂了，是一種極大的享受與成就感。 聽著日劇裡，人們的對白，而且也聽懂了，也是一種極大的享受。
這種學習法充滿樂趣，且適用於各種語言。
我見識過那種「會說話，就可以當老師」的外國人，來台灣是想學太極拳，賺生活費最容易就是教英文，甚至連義大利人半吊子英文也照樣教起英文，只因為他看起來是個「白人」，補習班照付他的鐘點費。
