Insomniac Games :: Welcome

Insomniac Games is an independent videogame developer that has released award-winning hits the PlayStation family of consoles for 14 years. We created the first three Spyro the Dragon games and the Ratchet & Clank franchise, which have combined to sell over 25 million copies worldwide and have won dozens of awards. Insomniac released Resistance: Fall of Man in 2006, a gritty first-person shooter and PlayStation 3 launch title. Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, the latest intergalactic adventure for the famed duo was released exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in 2007. We are currently working on the first third-generation PlayStation 3 title, Resistance 2, which features 60-player online competitive play, an 8-player online co-op campaign and a full single-player campaign.

Our motto is: build anything, play everything, from anywhere. Until now, virtual worlds have all worked like the closed online services from before the internet took off. They had custom clients talking to custom servers, and users couldn't do much of anything to change their experience. We're out to change all of that.

由 Raph Koster 所領軍製作的遊戲。這套遊戲允許你自己製作自己的虛擬世界(也可以說是MMO)，然後開放給其他人進來遊玩(像是絕冬城之夜一樣吧.)。然後，你還可以把你的虛擬世界放在你部落格的側邊欄!!! 沒錯，這款遊戲全部是網頁的介面。根據網頁上的說法，目前可以支援到2.5D的感覺。有預計要做3D。你也可以在你的世界中，放入一扇門來連結到別人的世界(這就是超連結)。頗令人期待的。

Reading data efficiently from Hard Disk and DVD units is vital for video games and one of the more important problems to solve in the next generation of games. While we are getting 20x performance in processing power and memory size, we are only getting 4x performance improvement in data devices (dvd for consoles).

作者推薦使用非同步分式，雖然他在每個特定的情況下都不是頂尖，但是他是最平均的方法。並且在使用壓縮格式的檔案方面也是最快的。
