第五屆亞太經合組織(APEC)旅遊部長會議,11日在秘魯首都利馬閉幕;來自亞太經合組織18個成員的旅遊部長或代表出席了這次為期2天的會議。本次會 議, 不僅安排了「朝向亞太區域的責任旅遊」(Towards responsible tourism in the Asia-Pacific region)的討論主題,.並於閉幕時通過了《帕查卡馬克宣言》,呼籲發展責任旅遊業,以減少對環境、社會和文化帶來的負面影響。秘魯總統加西亞出席了 當天的閉幕式。

團體呼籲機管局、航空公司和旅行社,撥出盈利的百分之十,作為支持碳中和計畫。碳中和是指為每次飛行飛機所排放的二氧化碳,以植樹或可再生能源項目而抵銷。團體稱,香港的面積較小,植樹較適宜在內地進行。另外,旅客亦應一同承擔責任,現時一些外國機構能提供碳中和的網上購買服務,航空公司亦陸續自行提供有關服務,旅客可即時付款,抵銷該次旅程的二氧化碳,費用約數百元。

國際支援緬甸人權與民主的團體,對少數至今仍與緬甸做生意的西方公司,發起抵制,並建立一所謂骯髒名單 DIRTY LIST http://www.burmacampaign.org.uk/dirty_list/dirty_list.php 發起I AM NOT GOING TO BURMA 我不去緬甸的運動,希望可以大幅減少支持緬甸軍政府的最大經濟來源的觀光旅遊財源。 台灣在這陣子,緬甸軍政府意圖鎮壓抗議學生,民主人士與和平抗議和尚時,最需要全世界支持的時候,台灣堪稱民主電台先驅的綠色和平電台的某位主持人,竟然日前廣告推銷前往緬甸觀光旅遊。

現年62歲的心理分析學家林恩‧弗蘭科(Lynn Franco)曾於60年代加入和平工作團(Peace Corps)擔任志工,目前定居於加州柏克萊的她,對曾經遊歷過的低度開發國家始終抱持高度關心。持續不減的關注促使她加入一個由位於柏克萊的非營利機構—「海洋生態(Seacology)」所舉辦的婆羅洲三月之旅。該機構藉提供旅遊服務換取當地人對保育的努力,以達成維護島嶼環境與文化的目標

The Adventure Travel Marketplace (www.detourdestinations.com), announced today that it offset its carbon emissions with Carbonfund.org, the country's leading carbon reduction and offset organization. Although Detour minimizes it carbon emissions through its business model as a virtual company, with only a small wind-powered office and other employees working from home, Detour has now offset the remaining carbon footprint of its office and operations, and is able to make some of the adventure trips the company offers carbon neutral. This practical step highlights Detour’s commitment to be a leader in the Sustainable Travel and International Adventure Travel communities.

The thrust of the Maldives Third Tourism Master Plan is on expanding and strengthening the Maldives tourism as an instrument of economic and social development in a manner that benefits all Maldivians in all parts of the country. The Plan stresses the development of the industry along the lines of sustainability, adopting environmentally and socially responsible tourism practices. Accordingly, the Plan emphasises developing tourism in harmony with nature, facilitating and enhancing private sector investment, developing human resources, creating greater employment opportunities and diversifying markets and products.

Award-winning volunteer adventure travel company Relief Riders International Executive Director Alexander Souri says he is re-designing key humanitarian programs his company offers on its horseback riding tour of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan, India. Souri says his he is looking at redefining the focus of his company's general medical camps in the next year and will begin shifting more of the organization's focus to its mobile cataract eye surgery clinics and a new program providing surgical care to rural villagers.
