Time magazine recently announced a list of "Hero of the Environment". One Korean guy is included in the list, but he is too far from being environmentally friendly. Cheonggyecheon stream restoration seems to be the main factor that made this guy nominated as a hero. In fact his Cheonggyecheon stream project is full of nonsenses and corruptive scandals. The restored stream is not a natural one, but a purely artificial one with fishes which are brought from outside and released at the stream. Everytime it rains in Seoul, rainwater sweeps up streets and runs into the Cheonggyecheon stream, killing those poor fishes from outside frequently. So actually it is not recommended to put your feet into the stream just as he does in the picture. The source of water in the stream is just tap water drawn to the top of the stream by electrical pumps. Only the tap water price amounts to $1.7 million a year. It is just like a big aquarium made with cement and concrete.
